Fat uses a TOLL-road to connect inflammation and diabetes.

چکیده
The link between inflammation and diabetes is well established, but the nature of the link is unresolved. Obesity, inflammation, and insulin resistance are major characteristics of diabetes. A study by Flier and colleagues () identifies Toll-like receptor 4 signaling activated by fatty acids as part of that link. This receptor mediates inflammatory events and insulin resistance in peripheral organs.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress regulates inflammation in adipocyte of obese rats via toll-like receptors 4 signaling
Objective(s): To explore whether endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress regulates inflammation in adipose tissue of obese rats via TLR4 signaling. Materials and Methods: Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups, and body weight, food intake, and free fatty acids (FFA) were measured. Real-time PCR and Western blot were used to determine mRNA or protein expression of TLR4, TRAF6, IKK...

Background: Type II diabetes is a chronic inflammatory condition that is associated with a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Tumor necrosis factor alpha or TNF-α as an adipocyte cytokine, which affects the signaling pathway of insulin, can contribute to insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes patients. Considering the importance of epigenetic changes in multifactorial diseases, th...

Obesity is a chronic disease that shows the most serious global health problems .It relates to the body fat .Obesity is caused by an imbalance between energy intake and expenditure, this balance is regulated by genetic and environmental interactions. Obesity, which is a risk factor for chronic diseases, has become epidemic in the developed countries. Resistance to Leptin hormone is one of the m...
متن کاملThe D299G/T399I Toll-Like Receptor 4 Variant Associates with Body and Liver Fat: Results from the TULIP and METSIM Studies
BACKGROUND Toll-like-receptor 4 (TLR) is discussed to provide a molecular link between obesity, inflammation and insulin resistance. Genetic studies with replications in non-diabetic individuals in regard to their fat distribution or insulin resistance according to their carrier status of a common toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) variant (TLR4(D299G/T399I)) are still lacking. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL...

Cell-free DNA and adipose tissue inflammation Obesity can induce chronic inflammation and subsequent insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes), but how this happens has been a nagging question. Nishimoto et al. found that degenerating adipocytes (fat cells) release DNA (known as cell-free DNA or cfDNA) that attracts macrophages to the adipose tissue, thus initiating or exacerbating inflammation. Tol...
